Camping at Lake Eufaula State Park
I stayed in the Deep Fork Campground located in the eastern part of the park. It is also near the marina which makes it easy to camp and boat! I stayed in RV site 86 located here. It had all the standard amenities including a 20 and 30 amp set up. There was also a site-side water spigot. It was also waterside and had a great view
Deep Fork Campground is a very large campground with tons of fun spaces including a playground, large field, nature center, and beach area. This campground has great potential for spring and summer fun and I’m sure it’s a busy summertime park.
The Area
The area around Lake Eufaula State Park has tons to offer. The state park is located on a lot of land. It is lakeside, it has a frisbee golf course, regular golf course, marina, hiking, swimming, and lots to offer within an hour of the park.
You can go about an hour south and get into the Ouachita National Forest. You can see the Civil War Battlefield of Honey Springs. Checotah is the nearest town and will have stores and amenities if you need things. It’s about 10 miles to the northeast. It’s a great area, a great lake, and a really nice park!

The bathrooms are older but maintained. They aren’t the best or worst I’ve ever seen but they are showing their age. I was there in February and both bathroom buildings were open. The bathroom located here had pay showers but the playground bathroom didn’t. The cost was 50 cents for 3 minutes in the one bathroom building.
Campsites
The RV sites are maintained well. They have power and water spigots. There is a fire ring and a cement picnic table at each too. Several pull-through spots for really big rigs are available. There are lake-side spots and field-side spots. Several tent areas are found all through the RV spots but without power but in some nice spots near the water.
Activities at the park
This park has above-average amenities! It has golfing, frisbee golf, marina, swimming, fishing, boating, and nature areas. It has all the summertime things you’d need to have a great time!
Location
The location is really nice for the lake-side fun but it isn’t really located near anything around the park. You can make it to the Ouchitas with an hour’s drive and you’re about 1.5 hours from the Illinois River area. I’m sure there’s plenty of Americana-style stuff around the area but as far as big-ticket attractions I didn’t find much.
AT&T Cell Service
The speed test doesn’t indicate high numbers while I was out there but I was able to stream, upload, and download things without any major issues. I usually look for 5Mbps up and down for good speeds.
Conclusion
Lake Eufaula State Park has so much potential. I, unfortunately, went on a cold and windy weekend and missed out on a lot of fun things due to my poor planning. It has spring and summertime written all over it! I will return and I’m sure it will be pretty fun and worth the drive from OKC. You should try it out too and let me know how it goes! Happy trekking!

You do such a good job on promoting Oklahoma. You make a person looking for a state they have not visited to go visit and camp!
I lived in Longtown from 99-07, water off Hiway 9 East is blue, and clearer than most places. Porum landing is same! Lake Eufaula and town is an awesome place, crappie in the spring, great for all water sports!! In July their big holiday is Whole Hog Day, they shut down Main Street, have all kinds of activities, pretty much free barbecue sandwiches at 5:00pm when the cannon goes off!! It’s a huge barbecue contest!! You’ll LOVE IT!! Lastly, in late summer and Fall, treat yourself to the best atmosphere of Oklahoma High School Football and go to a game at Paul Bell Stadium!! Eufaula is home of the Oklahoma Sooner and NFL Greats the Selmon Brothers and OU great J.C. Watts, Rusty Griffis, OSU great Demetrius Crowder and Tulsa University basketball great Eric Coley!! I didn’t miss a game In the 8 years I was there!!

What would you suggest for more activities that would encourage camping around the lake especially around Longtown which is close to Eufaula. We own a small piece of property about 8 acres that we want to do something with that will encourage visitors. For now, we are clearing the land and adding fruit trees as the area used to be an orchard during my grandfather’s time. Someone suggested an area for a few cabins for vacation rentals as well and a crafting workshop and paddle boats.
Well I can tell you this much I grew up and done tournament fishing around here you know all my life I’ve lived down here two years and I’ll tell you this much the town is the worst town I ever drove my car into and as of the lake it’s all right I mean if you like stepping over dead trees and trash that people leave and tripping over fishing line and stuff like that and they don’t do no good to report them because they just turn around and do it again you know empty beer bottles you know stuff like that and I’ve been to some of these camping sites and to me narrow rather kind of s*** hole
