How to get to Falkenstein Germany
Falkenstein Castle is only 30 minutes north of Kaiserslautern and an easy spot to get to! There are even two small parking lots that allow you to walk right into the castle! There are two small parking lots located here and here but only a few cars can be in each lot so I’d expect them to fill up on busy weekends. Be careful the area is very hilly and the road to the village is very narrow and can barely fit 2 cars!
The Castle
Falkenstein is located on a big outcropped hill on the side of the village. It has several walls remaining but one wall remains that dominates the views. It also has one turret sticking out on the edge of the cliff and on the day I visited it had a 1FCK (Kaiserslautern soccer team) flag flying! There’s also an amphitheater that looks like it continues to host events to this day.
The castle mixes ruins, modern use, and overgrown areas. It was nice to visit and easy to get to and convenient! I’d really recommend stopping by on a cool weekend and see the village and the castle! There was also a cool clock tower located here. It was quaint to walk to and see. You can hear the bells throughout the village but is obviously more modern than the castle. Happy Trekking!!!
