I have finally returned to London after a decade! It’s changed drastically since 2008 but it’s improved for the better! Here are a few things we visited that were a lot of fun and worth it for your next trip to London. This trip was combined with a trip to Edinburgh so check that out! Let’s go!
London Eats
Dishoom at King’s Cross
Dishoom was a very hot restaurant when we visited the King’s Cross area! There was literally a line out the door and around the corner. Make a reservation! Also, there’s a different menu for groups of 10 or more. The group menu is a tasting menu with 4 courses. It was good food but we didn’t order from the individual menu which I would have liked. Maybe ask and you can when you visit if you’re in a big group.
The food was great, the atmosphere was wonderful, and the neighborhood it’s in was a lot of fun and there are ton’s of people shopping and hanging out! The low point was service. It was very busy and service was adequate but it was tough sometimes to get things moving due to the busy service staff. Everything went well but it was noticeable how busy they were and it impacted service. This would be a great stop if you love Indian food!
Ye Olde Mitre

Ye Olde Mitre was a highlight of the London trip! The outdoor area was fun and you’re stuck between the buildings at this building built in 1546. The interior was also amazing. It has a snug area, it’s 2 stories, it has old wood paneling and small tables. The interior is a mix of 1930’s and 1500’s decor with old tchotchke around that seem to have been there for decades surrounded by 400 year old foundations! Really worth a trip! Enjoy!
London Attractions
St. Peter’s Cathedral

I always visit the big cathedrals and make sure to go to the top of the cupola! St. Peter’s is obviously a fixture in the London skyline. It was a fun experience and we got lots of good pictures. I’d recommend you pre-order your tickets because it gets busy very quickly. Also, make sure to buy the ticket up to the dome! All worth it!
London’s Jack the Ripper Tour
The Jack the Ripper Tour was another great highlight of the trip! We had tour guide Simon and he told us several yarns about the history, the search, and the locations of the well-known murders in London’s East End.

It is a walking tour and was £20 per person. Be ready to walk a mile or two to several locations of the murders. You’ll walk through a few alleyways and get a fun introduction into the history of the area. Simon really made it fun too and he really had a flair for storytelling and made it suspenseful and exciting! Make sure you get Simon!
Shakespeare’s Globe

The final stop on the trip was Shakespeare’s Globe. The show we saw was Twelfth Night. It was a lot of fun but be ready for some close quarters if you’re sitting in the bleachers. Seating can be tight so make sure you’re ready to sit for 45-60 minutes before intermission. There are several ticketing options and the ability to get a cushion so you’re not sitting on the wooden bleachers. It was a fun visit and I haven’t seen a play in such a long time. So get your theater card punched and go see some English culture!
