We went out just for a few hours over the weekend and decided to visit Lichtenberg Castle in the Pfalz. It famously has a very large tower right in the middle of the grounds. It is a great area for some hiking, biking, or driving around, and the grounds are very nice to explore too! You can even go up the tower or enjoy lunch at the restaurant.
Around Burg Lichtenberg
Burg Lichtenberg is near Kusel and it’s a full service castle. It has a restaurant, a small fossil museum, a youth hostel, and plenty to explore around the grounds. It even has a fun Christmas market in December. I was able to go in without paying a fee and explore the tower and the grounds for about 1-2 hours.
There was a restaurant so if you’re there during lunch time or dinner you can easily get something to eat. It is in a quaint setting to say the least. There is also children activities and a youth hostel! There are tons of hikers who are making their way around the area that stopped by the castle. They also have a few RV parking spots for an overnight stay. All in all, it was a great weekend romp to get away for a few hours! And only about 45 minutes from the KMC!
