Schluchtensteig Trek

We got out and visited the Schluchtensteig! It’s only a few minutes north of Kaiserslautern and a super easy hike! Here’s some of the highlights!

Getting to Schluchtensteig

We parked at the Waschmühle parking lot. It was empty because the pool is closed for winter. There’s one end of the trail there. There’s another trailhead lot on the eastern side but there’s only a small gravel area there. The trail is just a gravel road to the sign so it’s super easy to get there. There are also tons of other trails around the area you can get to from these parking lots.

The Entrance

There’s a sign showing the entrance of the small canyon. There are also a few benches all around the trails if you need to stop and rest. It is steep in some places and there are stairs so be ready for some climbing to get to the top. There are some other trails that take you to the top so you could find another way to the area.

There’s lots to see there. There’s a small waterfall, lots of flora and fauna, lots of things all around, and ripe for an adventure. It really is a nice area and easy to get to. Well worth it!
