I have finally returned to movie locations and have made the complete “The Holiday” filming locations that people really want! Here’s a map and a little background on each place!
UK Locations for The Holiday
Rosehill Cottage
It doesn’t get any better than this English cottage in Shere. Rosehill Cottage is the center of the entire aesthetic look of the movie. The gorgeous exterior among the field and the cute interior with every homey British feature you could find. The living room, the kitchen fireplace, the tub, all reflect a lived-in and quaint home most anyone would feel cozy in.
Mill House
The Mill House is the name of Graham’s house in The Holiday. The house is also officially called Mill House and is a historic home in the UK. The house is situated right on a small pond and a mill is located on the other corner of the water. I’m unsure if you can visit the property so be careful before showing up unexpectedly.
White Horse
White Horse is still a pub in Shere. It’s located in center of the town and it’s still serving food and drink. They even have a few framed photos from the movie on the wall commemorating the filming at the location. It seems like lots of people make sure to stop by and sit in the same place as Cameron Diaz or Jude Law.
USA Locations for The Holiday
Amanda’s House
The super sleek and modern home that Amanda lives in from The Holiday is located in the tony town of San Marino. There is a wall around the house so there isn’t much to see unless that gate is open but rest assured someone is sleeping in or kicking out an ex boyfriend!
Miles’s House
Miles’s house is located in a cool neighborhood that was designed with modern architecture in mind. The house is located in the Silver Lake neighborhood and was designed by Richard Neutra. It’s among a neighborhood where all the houses have similar looks and which were all designed by Richard. It’s a cool neighborhood for sure and I bet there have been a composer or two whom have lived in this cool area!
Arthur’s House
Arthur’s house was actually used for both inside and outside shots and it did have some Hollywood history! It was previously owned by Phyllis Diller. Unfortunately, it too is behind a high wall. It appears to have some new wings based on the satellite photos from Google Maps but maybe it will be sold again very soon so you can sneak a peek!
Other Spots from The Holiday
There are a few other spots with honorable mention. The interior for Amanda and Graham’s lunch was filmed inside the Greystone Mansion in LA but the exterior was filmed in England at the Cornwell Manor. The grocery store where Amanda went is located at 10 Church Street in Godalming. There is an art studio there as of 2023 so you might be able to sneak in and check it out!
Finally, the cemetery at St. James’s Church is not only the start of the trail to Rosehill Cottage but it’s also where Amanda gets left to walk the rest of the trip up in her heels!
Good luck and let me know if you make it to all the spots!
