The Castle Airbnb
This castle Airbnb was a real treat and I really enjoyed visiting this unique spot! I stayed in the larger apartment with 3 bedrooms and a large kitchen and a common room. It is perfect for large families or larger groups. We brought our own dinner and cooked. There were plenty of cooking items if you need them. There is also a restaurant but that night there was a private party. They also do “knight dinners” if you want to enjoy a fun evening of cosplay. I’d expect the dinner to be in German so good luck!
The beds we stayed in were comfy and the common room was adequate. The main draw was the ability to have the castle all night. There was even a phone number for “ghost encounters”. I really liked that touch! We arrived on a stormy night so I wasn’t able to explore around that evening but you are inside the walls and could walk around at night if you wanted. I plan on going back to do some nighttime exploring this summer.
Location
Auerbach Castle is located on the top of the foothills right next to Bensheim Germany. The forest extends for many miles to the east of the castle and you can go explore as much as you can on the trails all around the castle. There are even other points of interest like Felsenmeer if you want to drive to other spots. There were even 2 women playing the alphorn during the day. Schloß Auerbach really is a buzz of activity of people hiking and sightseeing.
