Elendsklamm Trek

Elendsklamm near Bruchmühlbach is a wonderful nature area in the KMC with easy access to a cool creek and valley area. It has a similar feel to Karlstal Nature Area but seems less packed! There are a ton more trails in the area but here’s where I went! Check out this cool area on your next weekend hike!

Parking

There’s a small parking area that has direct access to all the hiking trails to enter the valley. Some people also parked near the entrance to the mill here. There were several cars in that area but the mill seemed closed so I’m unsure if that is an okay area to park. Be ready to see a full lot because there’s only enough space for maybe 5 vehicles in the main parking area. I got lucky and got a spot and the area was not busy.

The Elendsklamm Hike

The hike is entirely maintained hiking trails with much of it being forest road. The hills and valley area are very striking and steep! The Frohnbach Creek really cut into the Pfalz hills creating a striking contrast between the hills and where the water flows so be careful near the edge of this small gorge.

The main appeal is the small bridge that crosses the creek near small waterfalls. The water trickling down the hill over several small falls is extremely relaxing and quaint and when I was there I only saw 3 or 4 people. It really was serene and quiet.

How long is the Elendsklamm hike?

The hike is about 2 miles round trip.
