Greenleaf State Park Oklahoma Review!

I finally get out again and travel to Greenleaf State Park near Braggs Oklahoma. It’s a large park and there are ample camping and RV areas for anyone wanting to stop and enjoy eastern Oklahoma. I’ll also talk about the bathrooms and camping setups available. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to hike any trails but there are plenty of spots around there. So here we go!

Camping at Greenleaf State Park

I stayed in the Trailhead Tent Area which is split into two areas. One side is to the west and the other side is to the east. The west side has lots of tree cover and is located next to the trailhead for the main trail throughout the park. The eastern side is a large grassy area that has a mix of trees and open areas. I stayed in spot 11 and it was wide open to the sky so make sure you’re ready for the sun or bring some artificial shade. It is located next to the lake on the east side so you’ll get to enjoy the water view!

There is another tent area east of the Trailhead area and it’s called Lakeview. Lakeview does have lake views! It also has better lake access if you’re on the closest spots and a few rocky areas to enjoy the water. Lakeview is more tightly packed with spots closer together unlike Trailhead which is spaced more.

The tent areas have nice layouts. There are a concrete picnic table and a fire circle in each spot. The one we had on spot 11 even had a cooking grate! The areas looked clean and the Trailhead Tent area has freshly cut grass and cleaned up. I was impressed with how nice the camping areas were.

Amenities and Bathrooms

The bathroom that you’ll be nearest is to the north and next to the Deer Run RV Area. It’s located here. This bathroom consisted of 2 toilets and 1 plastic-style stand-up shower. There was hot water! The men’s room was a bit dark and dank but not the worst and usable. The ladies’ bathroom was usable too but full of wasps and nests on the inside, including in the plastic shower. Luckily, Katie said the wasps were calm when she was in there so be ready for bugs and insects to join you. I give the bathrooms an average rating. I’ve seen worse…and I’ve seen better. There are other bathrooms throughout the park that seem newer so make sure to explore if you’re bathroom shy.

A dump station is located at the Deer Run RV area next to the bathrooms and the Gobbler Ridge RV area. There is also a splash pad! The splash pad is a real nice addition to the park and it is a welcome addition for families in the park. Next to the splash pad is the putt-putt area so don’t forget your putter! Don’t forget the gathering halls and buildings for rent too throughout the park for your parties or family gatherings! Finally, there are cabins in the park which can be rented in case you need some more modern amenities!

The main amenity is obviously the lake and marina! Greenleaf Lake is the main attraction. The lake has swimming and boating options near the marina. You can rent boats or kayaks at the marina or bring your boat and go out for the day. Fishing is another great attraction to the state park. There are several docks to fish off of or shores to stand on. Don’t forget the reel and rod!
