I finally got to visit local Route 66 landmarks near Oklahoma City. I went to Arcadia which is about 10 miles to the northeast of Oklahoma City. It’s a small town but has two landmarks along the famous roadway. I checked them out and take a look at what I found!

Pops Soda Ranch Arcadia

Pops is a modern stop along Oklahoma’s Route 66. It’s been in Arcadia since 2007. The location does have a nostalgic sense even though it’s a modern building with unique architecture. The roof has a unique cantilever cover over the gas pumps and it’s strange to see no supporting structures, especially in windy Oklahoma!

There are hundreds of display sodas along the front window once you get inside. You can also buy those same hundreds of varieties at the sit-in restaurant or get it to go from the refrigerator. I got a cream soda when I was there. It was pretty good!

The giant soda structure in front of the gas station lights up too! It’s in the shape of a glass soda bottle. The lights are a bright landmark even at night which you can see the huge soda bottle for miles.

Arcadia Round Barn

The next landmark which is only a few miles up the street is Arcadia Round Barn. The barn has been here approximately 100 years! It is currently an event center and a small exhibition of its history. The barn hosted music concerts and community meet-ups and you could rent it for group and wedding venues. Stop by Arcadia the next time you’re near Oklahoma City and see some interesting spots along the famous Route 66!
